The Future Of Technology after September 11th
Presented by Michael J. Savoie, Ph.D., Director of
E-Business Initiatives and Director of The Center for Information Technology and
Management at The University Of Texas At Dallas
In the past decade, we made dramatic leaps in the development and
use of technology. However, the surprise attack on our nation on September 11th reminded
us all that technology alone cannot replace the value and importance of human thought,
research and vigilance. In his speech, Dr.Savoie will explore the growing importance of
the interaction between humans and technology. Additionally, he will stress the importance
of taking a holistic view to ensure that our Company's Information Technology strategies,
as well as internal controls adequately combine the best of both human and technology
attributes.
Dr. Michael Savoie is the Director of E-Business Initiatives and is
the currently manages the Center for Information Technology and Management at UTD, which
was established to enhance the research and application of Information Technology.
Additionally, he serves as President and CEO of HyperGrowth Solutions, which helps
companies manage their corporate infrastructure and develop the skills necessary to
survive in rapidly changing environments. One final note, Michael was recently elected to
his third term as Mayor of the Town of Northlake, Texas.

Dr. Michael Savoie is one of the worlds leaders in using new
technology to educate. In his presentation, he will walk us through the "latest and
greatest" in online training and its role in organizational transformation. He will
cover current and future developments of internet technologies and how they will impact
online training.

Disaster Recovery Post September 11th
Mark Salamasick, Bank of America
Our world changed in many ways with the events of September 11th. Disaster Recovery
suddenly has increased awareness and new meaning. Mark Salamasick is an expert in the
field of continuity planning and recovery. He will share his thoughts on how September
11th has impacted continuity planning/disaster recovery and will provide insight on how
auditors can ensure their Companies are adequately prepared for unforeseen events.
Mark Salamasick is a Senior Vice President and member of the
Internet/Intranet Services team at Bank of America. His manages a team responsible for:
e-commerce architecture and standards, domain name management, web reporting, facilitation
of internet control issues, ecommerce process improvement and tool implementation,
business strategy and finance. Prior to that he was Director of Information Technology
Audit at Bank of America. He has worked in an audit and consulting role with the internet
and ecommerce activities since its introduction at the bank. He also teaches Information
Technology Audit part time at University of Texas at Dallas. Prior to joining Bank of
America, he was a senior consultant of Andersen Consulting. He has nineteen years of
experience in the banking industry and twenty-five years experience in systems and data
security related areas. He received the 1994 IIA International Audit and Technology award.
He is a Certified Data Processor (CDP), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), and
Certified System Professional (CSP). He is a member of the Institute of Internal
Auditors(IIA) and the Information Systems Audit and Control Association(ISACA). He has
served on a number of the IIA International Committees including: Advanced Technology
Committee, Seminars Committee and currently is on the Board of Research Advisors.
